Sitka to the Sawyer Glacier, PHOTOS
These photographs cover roughly three hundred miles of Alaskan waterway and a week’s worth of cruising.
Instead of captions, the following summary:
-To begin with, a few parting shots of Sitka including my childhood friend, David, a weekend at Leesofsky Bay to practice playing with fire in the rain, a rendezvous with other cruisers for an afternoon “tour” of Baranof Brewing, and then a tour of the local fish processing plant.
-Then it’s off over the top of Baranof Island for a close call with the small cruise ship Mist Cove in Stergius Narrows and down to Warm Springs Bay for a hike around Baranof Lake and a soak in the tub.
-Then it’s down to Red Bluff Bay (still on Baranof Island) for a near meeting with brown bear and our first caught salmon.
-The Organized Village of Kake is next, this on Kupreanof Island.
-And then it’s up to the Tracy Arm fjord to see the ice of the Sawyer Glacier.
